Halloween Festival

It was a great day for a Halloween Festival.  We met Eric in his classroom and paraded through the Center and outside to the campgrounds which they had rigged up as a haunted area.  The kids were having a blast.  The hot cocoa helped to warm our hands - it was pretty chilly out.

I'm back at work now - and believe me it's the last place I want to be.  After all that cold and fresh air and walking about -- I sure am sleepy.  Sleepy  I just wanted to put one or two pictures up as it would take my computer at home 3 days to download the pictures.

Have a great evening everyone!

It's Official

Well - we officially have the first snowfall.
It's snowing........Sarcastic

Danced through the weekend....

Well the snow thing diappeared off my weather monitor thing.  Not that I'm a big fan of rain or anything, but you don't have to shovel that.  Also my sister must have changed her settings to make her space not private so those of you that have tried to visit can try again -- Thinking  Click here to get there.

The weekend was nice, relaxing and productive.  Well, not all that productive, but somewhat. Sunday was a beautiful day.  Nik and I took Eric shopping with us and other than nearly beaning some lady with his cup of milk and throwing his toy camera in the air behind him forcing us to crawl under racks to find it, it was calm.  We did have fun though and it was nice to be out shopping with Nik again.

Kevin took Eric for a wagon ride and I made a chicken casserole which we had with Italian Bread and we watched football.  My Chargers lost again, darn them.  COME ON GUYS!!! YOU CAN PLAY MUCH BETTER THAN THAT!  I KNOW  YOU CAN!    Sarcastic  Next weekend the Giants are playing the Cowboys and since that is a big event in this family, the boys will probably come by and watch it here.  That's always fun.

I'm taking Thursday morning off to go to Eric's Harvest Festival and then I have to go to a Princess House Party on Thursday night.  Of course Friday is Halloween.  I get to take some pictures again.  Speaking of pictures, I was dancing with Eric to cartoon music yesterday (I do this quite often) and Nikki grabbed my camera and took a video of it.  What was she thinking, putting me on a camera.  Not that I'm gonna put it here, but we laughed so darn hard at it.  So that's what I look like and why Eric laughs so hard when I do it.

Anyway other than those two days the week looks pretty calm and routine.  I'm headed to the shower, and have to write out a few bills to mail on the way to work.  Forgot all about them, I was supposed to sit down and do it yesterday.  Take care all - and have a good week!

Good Grief !

I just noticed there was a snowflake on my weather thingie for Tuesday.

It's predicted to be a typical fall day today -- chilly, rainy, no sun, and leaves everywhere.  Charlie will be coming by this morning to help Kev get as many leaves up as possible before the rain is due to hit at noontime.  Nothing like wet leaves to pick up.  And if it does snow on Tuesday, we'll have gotton up as much of them as we could.  No nevermind, not "we"  -- I mean "they".  I'm not going there.  My chores are inside today.  Maybe I'll sweep them off the porch just to get a little air -- but that's it.  I mean it.

Click here to visit my sister Vicc.  She has finally gotten around to adding to her Space and it's starting to look like something.  It does look kinda sad though with just one friend.  LOL!  So go on over and say hello.

We have apples that Nik brought home from her visit to Bowman Orchards, so I'm going to see about making an apple crisp today and since I've  been in the mood for brownies lately, I'll make some of them too.  Nik wants to make an apple pie (this I gotta see...lol) so she will probably tackle that on her day off tomorrow.

My Chargers are playing in London tomorrow and while they won't be on tv, I'm looking forward to a cozy football Sunday.  Since my crockpot broke this past week after I made my beef soup, (it was due as it's over 20 years old) it's either get another crock pot or figure out something else easy to make for dinner tomorrow.  I do enjoy my lazy Fall Sundays.

So take care everyone -- enjoy your weekend!  And say hi to my sister for me -- Smile

Morning everyone......

I was surprised last night while watching the news when the announcer said the election was less than two weeks away.  All the campaigning and such has been going on for so long, it has started to become a natural thing to hear.  I remember thinking way back "Wow they sure are starting real early with this election"..... and now here it is time to decide once and for all.  Yes, time certainly as passed quickly hasn't it?  Melody metioned having lunch together on Veterans Day and I thought  -- wow, Veterans Day already??

Not much is new. I had gotten some Salmon on sale over the weekend and cooked that last night.  Brain food ya know?  I can use a little of that I can tell you.  It came out great so now I have to head over and get some more before it goes off sale.  Actually, Salmon prices are very high even on sale, but we all love it so when it does go on sale, I splurge.  All that means is that we eat the other meals a little cheaper.  No one minds, so it's all good.

Well, my sister has started up her Space, something she's been meaning to do for awhile.  Only problem is, there is nothing on it yet but her name and interests, so there is no place to comment except the message button.  Tonight is Kevin's bowling night, so during our usual Thursday night phone call, I will find out if she has no clue how to do it, or if she is just slacking off.  Once she gets going, I will give you the link to her space so you can all say hello.  She is the complete opposite of me.  I was the girly girl, while she was the tomboy.  She lives way up in the boonies, as I call it, and likes it most of the time.  Me?  I would go stir crazy.

The temps will only be in the 40's and I need to really think about getting a new jacket.  I took mine to the cleaners and found out that it is leather, not suede and the lady there said if they clean it, not only will it cost an arm and a leg, but because it is worn around the sleeves a bit, it might lose some of the coloring (it's a pretty rust color).  I've taken very good care of it, and while it doesn't look old, it could use cleaning.  Guess I'll put the money I was going to use for cleaning it towards something new.

Well that's about all I have for today.  Not much I know, but I am trying to keep in the habit of updating, so until my life gets interesting, I hope you will all put up with my ramblings about nothing interesting.  Disappointed  HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Where have I been??

I don't know about elsewhere, but it's raining leaves here. And of course the cold weather is here to stay I guess.  I know -- it's not really that cold yet, but as you all know, to me, anything under 70 degrees is cold.  I dream of leaves at night.  Rake one area and by the time you are finished with the next, it looks like you didn't rake the first one at all.

I finally sat down Friday and made our reservations for our visit to California to see Jaime for the holidays.  We are leaving Friday the 5th of December and returning on the 9th.  A short visit I know -- especially across the country, but our aim is to see Jaime, rather than Cali, and with money tight, especially around the holidays, it's what we can afford.  We did get a good deal on airfare and hotel and that sure helped.  Just a short hop from the beach of course.....

I also helped Nikki's friend Teresa design and print her Halloween/Birthday party invitations.  You might remember the graduation pictures I put up of her College graduation.  Her 21st birthday is on Halloween and her party the next day.  She is demanding that Nikki and I dress up in costume.  Hmmmmmm -- that will take a bit of thinking about.  But actually I'm not really sure if we can go.  Or at least we might not make it for the beginning.  We do plan on taking her to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory the following weekend though, along with some shopping.  And man, can that girl shop.  She is a shopping queen.

Speaking of Halloween, Eric is going to be a bat this year.  We think it is perfect for him.  When he is happy and excited he flaps his arms.  Sometimes we think he's going to fly away.  With his bat wings, he just might. His school is having a Fall Festival on the 30th and we have to put him in his costume for it.  I'm taking the morning off work to go with them.

Eric has his evaluation on Halloween.  The last one he had, was when he was diagnosed with Autism.  He was so uncooperative, the doctor was unable to tell what part of the Spectrum he was on.  We are hoping this time, the diagnosis will be more complete.  The liitle man has come a long way since that last visit.

Tonight is the last night of my photography class.  I will miss it, so I'm hunting up another class.  I'll let you all know how that goes.

Meantime, since I seem to be having trouble with my train of thought early this morning, I guess I'll just go read the paper. I have alot of catching up on visiting today, so I'm hoping that work is slow for a bit, so I can get around to say hello.  OH - and my sister finally started a space here.  I won't give you her link yet, as she hasn't gotten much on it yet, so there is no place to comment.  She can be a bit slow to start -- right Vicc?  Eye-rolling

So have a great day everyone -- till later!

6 Truths of Life

 1. You cannot touch all your teeth with your tongue.

 2. All idiots, after reading the first truth, will try it.

 3. And discover that the first truth is a lie.

 4. You're smiling now because you're an idiot.

 5. You soon will forward this to another idiot.

 6. There's still a stupid smile on your face.

          I apologize about this ....
I'm an idiot and I needed company ...

Leaves, playrooms and pictures

I tried to get some nice pictures this weekend of some beautiful, red trees in my neighborhood.  Unfortunately the shots were ruined by the stupid power lines in the pictures.  No matter what angle I took them, they stood out like a sore thumb.  And little Eric was in no mood to get photographed playing in the leaves.  He much preferred his wagon and even at Pumpkin Patch, would not stay still or look at the camera for Nik.  She did get one or two shots where he looked and she snapped fast...lol, but otherwise he wanted no part of pictures.  So.... we'll try again soon, as I'm sure these darn leaves will be around for a bit.  No sooner did we pick them up, they fell again.  Talk about useless work -- raking leaves at this time of the season seems useless.

I'm adding  a few random shots that Nik took at the Pumpkin Patch.  (I keep calling it the Cabbage Patch - good thing I proof-read).  She said alot of the time he was just wandering around looking like "where the heck are we now??"... She had a heck of a time getting him out of the cornfield.

I'm still working on the playroom for the kids.  I'm thinking that for the walls, I would like to take pictures of the 3 grandkids, playing - separately and together and put them on the wall in colorful frames.  Maybe even have one of each done in poster size.   It's all I can really think of because they will share it and each has a favorite theme they like.  It would be too chaotic if I were to try to use Wonder Pets, Cinderella and the Fairy Princess, and Tonka Trucks in one room.  Good grief...

Other than that --- life continues.  I think we are the only ones in the city working today.  It's so quiet, and no mail, banks are closed.  Why am I here you ask??  Boss says so....

Have a great day Everyone!

Checking in....

The newspaper says the weather is going to be 70's through the weekend into Monday.  That's a good thing.  We need to do some yard raking and I want to take some pictures of Eric in the leaves.  It's a great chance to get the yard cleaned up and to practice some of the things I learned in class with regards to shutter settings, F stops and all that.  Besides all that, we are doing a bit of work on the playroom for the grandkids.  I'm going to hunt down a palm sander tonight after I drop Kev off at bowling.

Today is Eric's school trip at the pumpkin patch - please pray for the safety of my camera, as Nik is taking that with her.  I sure wish I could be there with them.  But I'm already taking a morning off this month to go to a seminar with Nikki on Child Communication Techniques for Young children and Eric's Harvest Festival is Oct 30 and I want to go to that also.

Nikki is traveling Saturday for her job, going to W. Nyak which is near NYC.  The studio there needs some new employees trained so she will go Saturday work the day, stay overnight and head back Sunday morning.  It's about 2 hours away.  Expenses paid.  Daniel will probably have to work Satrday for a bit, so we will play in the leaves with the little man.

Other than that, life goes on as usual.  Nice weather always puts a smile on my face.  I hope you will experience the same nice weather we are expecting!

Good Grief....

The heat is running and I'm seeing dollar signs dance in front of my eyes.

Melody - what happened to our Chargers??  They fell right apart.  Against the Dolphins of all things.  Might be we have to keep an eye on those Dolphins this year huh?

I ended up heading over to Charlie's with the guys to watch football.  Nik, Daniel and the baby were downstairs when I got home from shopping and dropping Kevin off, and I thought maybe they would want some Sunday family time together.  Believe me when I say I got some ribbing for the way my Chargers behaved.  It didn't help that hubby is a Giants fan, and Charlie is a Dallas fan.

I just finished reading the paper.  Between the economy and election it seems to be the same thing everyday.  I wonder if either of our candidates will be able to help the state the economy is in.  My neighbor behind us told me she spent the money to change over from oil to gas, because it would have cost her almost $3,000. to heat her home for the cold weather.  I was astounded.  $3,000.  Considering she would probably run her heat for approx 6 months on low that would still be about $500 a month just for heat -- not including electric.  Yep, I'm a bit nervous and have once again turned into a nag about utilities.

We got our bed on Saturday.  I had no idea it would be as high as it was.  It's one of those Eurotops and is considerably higher than our other one.  The box springs are wider too.  My feet dangle when I sit on the side of the bed.  LOL!  Talk about short.  I also rearranged the bedroom much to hubby's dimay.  He got up sometime during the night on the first night and first almost fell off the bed because his feet didn't touch the floor right away, then proceeded to walk into the wall about 2 feet away because he forgot I rearranged, that startled him mostly awake where he proceeded to bump into the dresser which was near the door now.   I didn't want to laugh when he told me the next morning.  I really didn't - but the picture of him doing it popped into my head.  He forgave me though.

There is not much going on this week.  We have to take a trip to Home Depot for a few things for our weekend project.  We are going to concentrate on finishing the grandkids playroom off the dining room.  Eric will have a place to hang out downstairs and Kaelynn and Baby Kev will have something to do when they are here as well.  I have my class tonight and Nik has her trip to the Pumpkin Patch with Eric on Thursday.  I agreed to let her take my camera and will worry all day.  But I would love pictures of him with his class trip.  She's agreed to be extra careful with it.  Other than that, it's a slow week.

I'm off to start the day.  I hope you are all having a great week!  Till later......

Nice fall weekend....

Ok, so I caved -- I put the heat on for a bit last night.  First I made Kevin go around and close all the storm windows. That didn't help much.  I put on my heavy sweats -- no deal.  It happens every year -- I swear I won't turn it on till November but end up turning it on much sooner.  Just to take the edge off, I say, and we can shut it off again.  So the whole monh of October usually consists of on, off, on, off.  Drives Kevin crazy.  Wink

We went last night and looked at new matresses and halleluiah -- we bought one.  It was a super great price and when I laid on it in the store I thought I was in heaven.  Kevin has been complaining of a spring sticking in his shoulder.   The bad part of this purchase?  Now I want all new furniture.  All the cushy sofa's and recliners --and the gorgeous dining sets.  Kevin tried really hard to hurry me out of there, with his eyes rolling and deep sighs.  Eventually he gave up though and like a little puppy followed me from tables, to chairs and bed frames, dressers.  I even caught him trying out a few of the cushy recliners.  Hmm - wonder if Santa brings recliners.  It's a dangerous thing for me -- walking into a furniture store.

I was getting ready to mail Daniels mom her photobook, and since I wanted to send some pictures of Eric's birthday party along with it, I went in and started to download the pictures to be printed up at Walm*rt and decided to make her a collage poster of some of the pictures of her and Eric and Daniel.  I can't begin to tell you how much I am enjoying my Photography class.  I know that you can do alot with pictures with Photo programs online, but to learn to do it with the camera is even better.  For the first time in my  life I am wishing for homework.

I have no particular plans this weekend, much to my relief.  Nik has to work all day and so does Daniel, so my little guy is hanging out with me and his pop-pop today.  I have laundry to do, which Eric loves.  I bring it upstairs to fold, and he dumps out the clothes on the floor and plays with the basket.  Kev and the boys are going to get the bed (it has to be picked up at the Albany store) and I want to give the bedroom a good dusting and vacuuming.  I really want to redecorate the whole thing, but I have so many projects going right now, I came to my senses and decided to wait till they were done.  Besides, I haven't figured out a way to afford a new bedroom set and curtains and comforters and such.....lol!

Sunday, Kevin is deserting me for the first football game and is headed over to Charlies to watch it with him.  I was invited, but it's a man thing so join Nik, Daniel and Eric if they go to the Apple Orchard.  Might be some great photo opportunites there.  But Kev will be home for the second game so there will be a roast in the crockpot and I can kick back and relax.

Well, it's still early and quiet around here.  A perfect time to catch up on my visiting and see what you are all up to.  Have a nice weekend everyone...Hot

Brainless Rambling

The afternoon has calmed down a bit so hopefully I can spend some time playing with my space and updating and doing some visiting.

Eric's party was great -- everyone had fun and the weather held right up until the end when the rain started.  I was able to watch a little bit of football before I collapsed in exhaustion.  It was another non-stop weekend.  Daniels mom made it on Saturday and she helped get things together.  It was great to spend some time with her and I know she loved being with Eric.  Unfortunately the photo book I ordered didn't come in time (it arrived yesterday), but I can mail it to her along with some pictures of the party.  Eric had a great time and was so overtired Sunday night, yet up early (5:00 a.m.) the next morning.

This week Nik has an open house to attend at the school and on the 9th is going to the Pumpkin Patch as a chaperone with Eric's class.  That sure brings back memories.  I remember her dad and I taking turns going on her field trips.  I think it was Kevin who did the Pumpkin Patch when she was in first grade.  He also did the Catskill Game farm the day it was 95 degrees outside.  I think I arranged that well.  All that heat - all those animals....Wink

I finished Stephen Kings book "Duma Key" sometime last week.  I would recommend that any Stephen King fan read that book.  It was great.  It reminded me of the first books he wrote, and I had a hard time putting it down.  It has taken it's place among my favorites.

Well, I know this is not much of a "catch up" but it's toward the end of the day and I still have some bills to pay so I should get to those. Besides, I feel I'm just rambling on in order to get something written here so I won't feel badly for not having been around.  It's not that I don't care -- just that life sometimes gets a bit overhwhelming and I get brainless for a bit.  Disappointed  So till later -- take care and have a pleasant evening!
