27 février Not much happening -- But what's a FISHER?Gee, I'm full of energy this morning. I feel asleep last night after dinner at about 7:00 or 7:30 and was up at 4:30. Folded two loads of laundry, shoveled the NEWLY FALLEN SNOW (*sigh), did dishes, read the paper.... Not bad. I must have needed the sleep.
There really isn't much going on here other than snow almost every day. The temps aren't too bad without the wind - mid to high 30's., but there is no sun so nothing is metlting. Just one snow on top of another and underneath is ice.
Nichole and Eric will be here Thursday, and we are having dinner for some family on Sunday so they can see Nikki and Eric before Nikki heads back. That will be fun and is something to look forward to, besides my little angel being here for awhile. We are getting to the store for the car seat tomorrow, and I've picked up some goodies for him when I did my shopping. Yep, we are ready.
Anyway, there is not too much more to blog about today, so I will get around to visit a little. I hope everyone's week is going well -- take care!
By the way - check this out. It happened not far from where I live. I have never heard of a Fisher, much less seen one. Anyone else?
Police shoot animal after it attacks dog, two people Glenville police shot and killed a 20-pound fisher after the animal chased a man walking a dog and later attacked a woman in her garage. Police arrived on the scene after a man called saying an animal resembling an otter went after his dog Monday evening. They managed to get away, but a 61-year-old woman said the animal attacked her while she was in her garage. The woman said the fisher latched onto her foot and wouldn't let go so she struck it with a fire extinguisher. The animal then ran into her house, but the woman managed to chase it out. Police located the fisher by following its tracks in the snow. The two-foot long fisher was shot and killed by one of the officers. The animal has been sent to the state's wildlife lab to be tested for rabies. 23 février Ah - Friday at lastThank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Let's see what's new? I've been talking to Nikki and she is having some problems getting herself a job and such. She wants to work part time for extra money for bills and have Eric in daycare so he could meet and have fun with other kids. Only part time because she wants to be with Eric too. The only problem is she cannot go out for job interviews and such without putting Eric in daycare. And she can't put Eric in daycare yet without the extra money from a job. They also need to find a cheaper apartment. Daniels Dad got them this one and it is too expensive for them. Nice but out of their price range. On the good side - Daniel is very happy with his job and is working hard. Nik loves the fact that she can tease me with tales of the nice weather. They have been attending church there and Eric is having fun in the church nursery (which during the week is the daycare she wants to put him in).
Ok - I'll fess up -- Kevin and I offered to take Eric for 2 or 3 weeks while Nikki goes to her job interviews and gets a job, and while they apartment hunt and spend a little time together. Daniel's family will not babysit (don't get me started on that) so they don't have any couple time like they did when they lived here. And they have not had the opportunity to meet any friends, etc. We miss all of them so much and especially miss little Eric's antics and laughter around the house. So............Nik is flying up and bringing him next Thursday, staying a few days, and heading back. I guess Kevin and I could have paid the daycare rather than plane fare (we found fabulous last minute prices), but plane fare was cheaper and we really wanted to see them. Now they can have a few weeks to get adjusted and know Eric is well taken care of. Nichole has been feeling left out because Daniel is able to follow his dream of working in the Hearing Aid field. But she has not been able to move forward with her plans at all. Yep, problem solved to all's satisfaction.
You know it's funny -- all my life I thought I would look forward to the time I had some time to myself and my husband and I could do things together. But I truly am a family person. I love each and every one of them, we were and are a close family, and with them growing up and flying off in all directions, I feel so out of my element. I'm a mom. I love being a mom and grandma. I love being needed. (God -- I so need counseling). I like that about myself. It's who I am. I look foward to moving on with our plans of relocation, and other plans Kevin and I have, but I need to do it a little at a time I guess.
Ok - I'm getting ready to finish up my work and head home. I'll leave you once again with a few smiles for the weekend. Take care!
People that make dirt look smart I went to McDonald's. I looked at the menu and saw that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half-dozen nuggets. "We don't have a half-dozen nuggets," said the teenager at the counter. "You don't?" I replied. "We only have six, nine, or twelve," was the reply. "So I can't order a half-dozen nuggets but I can order six?" "That's right." So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets. A lady at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly. When inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they asked for a credit card number, so she's using the ATM "thingy". I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. "Do you need some help?" I asked. She replied, "I knew I should have replaced the battery to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenient store) would have a battery to fit this?" "Hmmm, I dunno. Do you have an alarm too?" I asked. "No, just this remote thingy," she answered, handing it and the car keys to me. As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, "Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries it's a long walk." Several years ago, we had an intern who was none too swift. One day, he was typing and turned to a secretary and said, "I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?" "Just use copier machine paper," the secretary told him. With that, the intern took his last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five "blank" copies. I was in a car dealership a while ago, when a large motor home was towed into the garage. The front of the vehicle was in dire need of repair and the whole thing generally looked like an extra in "Twister." I asked the manager what had happened. He told me that the driver had set the "cruise control" and then went in the back to make a sandwich. My neighbor works in the operations department in the central office of a large bank. Employees in the field call him when they have problems with their computers. One night he got a call from a woman in one of the branch banks who had this question: "I've got smoke coming from the back of my terminal. Do you guys have a fire downtown?"
20 février Tuesday RamblingsLet's see now -- what's new? Weather? Nope - still full of snow, although it might reach 40 degrees today. But there is no sun so I'm thinking not much of the snow will go away. It stopped being pretty over the weekend. Now yucky and brown in most places.
The weekend was allright. Jaime showed up and rented a U-haul to pick up his things we had in storage for him and bring them to his new apartment in Queens. It was a nice unexpected surprise to see him. I never did get to go with Kevin to his bowling as I helped Jaime get the truck and such. Then he bought Charlie and his friend lunch for helping and headed on down the Thruway.
We found out yesterday that Kevin is having muscle spasms - he was a hurting unit on Saturday. He did go ahead and bowl Sunday - the nitwit, but afterwards hurt even more. He thought maybe he had his pleursey back (he gets it every so often and it's very painful). I made a dr. appointment for him for yesterday and the Dr. says he is having muscle spasms in his back. I'm only assuming it was from his shoveling and Saturday since the snow was packed and even heavier, it was worse. So he's home today and I will be bringing his prescriptions to him on my lunch hour.
I was reading the paper this morning and there was an article about making your life better, changing habits. It said that you do something for 21 days to change a habit or stop a habit, it will become a routine. For example if you get up and run or walk first thing in the morning, by the time the end of 21 days comes along, it will have become a habit for you - routine. I guess I found that pretty interesting, something I'd like to put to the test.
One of the things I have always loved is breakfast, you know eggs sausage, etc. But over the years, with work and such and the kids, I got out of the habit of any kind of breakfast at home in the morning. The kids ate -- but I never seemed to find the time. Now that I think of it, I can probably make the time now, yet I haven't. It's become routine for me to drink a few cups of coffee, read the paper, get ready and off to work. It would be nice to change my morning routine to include breakfast and I believe it will make me healthier. The article said that after 21 days start a new thing for another 21 days. And so on, and so on. I'm kinda liking the idea.
Anyway - that's about it folks for my exciting life.
I'll be around to see what's new with you all! Oh BTW -- I had alot of fun at this site...Planet M&M. I was able to make myself an M&M Character and get a studio picture taken. Silly but kind of fun.
![]() 16 février I'm glad it's the weekendWith all the snow, this week seems to have gone on forever. I'm tired of people tailgating me on the icy roads and people snowblowing their driveways into the streets where it generates ice bumps. I'm weary of cold toes, icy winds and blowing wet drifty snow. Even though there is nothing much planned for the weekend other than the usual chores and such, I'm looking forward to a little time not having to fight the snow and cold. Kevin has a bowling tournament on Sunday morning so I will probably go to that with him. Other than shopping I believe I will stay out of the cold. Seems like I'm doing alot of that lately.
I found this somewhere online to give you a smile on this Friday to start your weekend off right! Enjoy!
Tips for a more enjoyable life ... Old telephone books make ideal personal address books. Simply cross out the names and addresses of people you don't know. Fool other drivers into thinking you have an expensive car phone by holding an old TV or video remote control up to your ear and occasionally swerving across the road and mounting the curb. Avoid parking tickets by leaving your windshield wipers turned to fast wipe whenever you leave your car parked illegally. No time for a bath? Wrap yourself in masking tape and remove the dirt by simply peeling it off. Apply red nail polish to your nails before clipping them. The red nails will be much easier to spot on your bathroom carpet. (Unless you have a red carpet, in which case a contrasting polish should be selected). 14 février Yep we are being ClobberedIt is noontime, and boss finally is letting us go home. He decided that when he went to do the bank deposit so I didn't have to drive and discovered the bank was closed. LOL! Then on the way back, noticed that everything else was also.
So I'm headed home and will be sure to take pictures for my "snowless buddies". This is amazing! It has easily topped 2 ft. and still snowing really hard.
For all my "snowfilled friends" -- STAY SAFE AND WARM!
COZY GUY -- I was nice -- the finger was under the mittens so I only new it was there. LOL!

THERE YOU GO EVERYONE -- PICTURES ABOVE
We are taking a break - it's 5:12. Still snowing. We will be back outside soon. Yes I said we....I was shoveling. 13 février Here we Go Folks!News Channel 9 headlines at 10:17 this morning ~~~~~
MAJOR SNOWSTORM BREWING
It’s the first big storm of the season and DOT crews around the area are getting ready. The snow is expected to begin before midnight and go strong throughout most of the Capital Region. D and this from Channel 10 WEDNESDAY: Snow....heavy at times...may briefly mix with sleet south and east of Albany.Becoming windy in the afternoon. Accumulations by Wednesday night 1 to 3 FEET ! (This is not a TYPO!!). Highs 19-24. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nothing much else is new. It was a quiet weekend as I said it would be. We did some work around the house and generally just hung out. Nikki says it was so nice in Florida. I almost decided to take a 20 hour drive. Hey - that's 40 hours right? There and back...LOL! It could happen. Jaime will be moving to Queens this coming Saturday - although he will still work in Manhatten. He will be paying a visit to get some of his things soon as we are clearing away items in the basement that we don't use. Yep, one more step towards Florida living! Rita and Theresa - Hunker down!!! 8 février Rambling just for the sake of RamblingI was just surfing around, reading some jokes, trying a few silly games. Here's one for example -- CATCH 33. (My fastest time so far is 50). It's very slow here at work and I'm munching on snacks (lol - I just typed in snakes) that I don't need. The sun is shining out the window, but that's deceiving as it is only in the low 20's.
Not much has happened this week worth going on about. We watched the Superbowl (not as many funny commercials as when the Budwieser Frogs were there) and I really loved the half-time show with Prince. (I thought about how wild Theresa was being the whole time). My husband owes me $10.00 (he chose the Bears).
We had Little Kevin over for dinner Tuesday night. Jamie, Kaelynn and Baby Kevin are visiting relatives in Florida so he's on his own this week. Nikki and Daniel are still doing well. Nikki had quite a toothache this week though (her wisdom tooth is pushing on another one). She has a dentist appointment at 3:00 today(Thursday). Charlie is missing Jessica who is in Cobleskill and Jaime is hoping to move into an apartment in Queens (much cheaper than Manhattan) although he will still be working in Manhattan. And he says he might actually have a little money to spend now that his rent isn't astronomical.
I see Spaces has been pretty quiet as well. I know for my part, I am spending most of it hibernating, wishing for Spring. It's hard to be outside when the wind is so swift, blowing ice air and freezing every exposed part of your body. No -- I will NOT wear one of those hats that cover your whole face with the eyeholes and mouth holes. I swore on that when I was a little girl and will not go back on it now. I've visited around a bit and noticed that not many people are updating only every few days (myself included). I guess life does slow down for some people in January and February. Can't wait till Spring when everyone is once again full of action. I do really long for the beach.
We are still planning our visit to Nikki, although I don't know if it will be in March as the finances cannot withstand $700 that soon. All those good old fares for 99 dollars one way to Florida (Southeast Advertisements) are always sold out in seconds. No sooner does the ad pop into my email box, I click on it right away and the sale ones are gone. No fair.... Maybe April for my birthday. I miss them so much.
Well, it seems I've rambled enough to take up some space. How do you like that? Who knew?
So take care everyone and if for some reason I don't get by tomorrow, have a great weekend. May it go slowly for you.
(Thanks Cindi).... ![]() 4 février Lazy SundayI actually slept late this morning -- that hardly ever happens to me. I'm usually up by 5:30/6:00 at the latest on a weekend. This morning I crawled out of bed at 7:30. A record for me. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I went to bed at midnight instead of my usual 9:30...
Yesterday was nice. Kevin had to work one of his side jobs, so I took the opportunity to pick up some groceries and get my hair cut. Usually I do that on Sunday morning, but we had invited my Cousin Johnny to dinner with his family. I needed something to feed them. We all had a nice visit and got to know the kids. Johnny is my Aunt Pat's son and he was 4 years old when I moved in with them after my mom passed away. We all had many great adventures as kids and it was fun to remember them.
I had a great shock this morning. After hearing about the tornado in Florida on Friday, I did some research on Mapquest I knew Nikki was ok as I had just heard from her. I discovered that our friend Melissa and her family might have been in the path of the tornado. I quickly left a comment on her blog asking if she was ok. I spent yesterday checking my comments and hoping she would reply. I checked again this morning and sure enough she had replied. Seems she experienced the tornado firsthand. And she blogged about it. It almost felt unreal reading her blog. It brought tears to my eyes and brought home the fact that while the tornado was not near to us, it had, in some way had an effect on my feelings, giving the fact that not only someone I know experienced it, but that it was only 2 hours away from Nikki and her family. Please stop by Melissa's site and add your prayers. It was truly a life changing experience for her and she brings it home to us more so than the news.
Kevin and I plan on kicking back and enjoying the Superbowl this evening. I've set out some steaks and will make some muchines. We will have a few Bud Lights on hand, stuff ourselves with Munchies and a good dinner and go to bed during halftime. LOL! Kevin says unless the game is a close one. Myself I just want to see what commercials they have come up with. Little Kevin is giving a superbowl party (no women allowed, as his wife and the kids are visiting Florida for the week and he's on his own). He's ordering pizza and a big sub and invited the team (he and Charlie play Flag Football on a city team). Charlie is going over early to help set up after he sees Jessica off back to school.
On that note, I'll say bye and everyone enjoy your Sunday. I'm off to do a few chores and settle in for a bout of reading and tv. Take care!
2 février Wooo - Heat wave at 34 degreesBut we will pay for it Sunday and Monday in the teens.
I just wanted to stop and let everyone who's interested know that Nikki has finally put a blog on her site. Stop and say hello.
I also wanted to tell everyone to have a nice weekend and to
A HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ENJOY!
NO SNOW -- PLEASE
LETS HOPE NOT! 1 février Zippity Do DaIt's tough thinking of a title to each blog. Well this one's different anyway.
Well, chatting yesterday with my pal Cindi on Messenger has cheered me immensely. I have discovered during our conversation that there really are dragons, and that she dosen't have Wise Snack Products where she lives (poor, poor Cindi). My sister Vicc also popped in on Yahoo and she's bored so we talked a bit.
I feel that I must apologize to my Space friends for my neglect. I have been so stuck in my self pity that I have not taken the time to look around and see what everyone has been doing. I have myself feeling like a stranger to you all. And the longer it gets that I visit, the worse I feel and time moves on. Amazingly enough I have discovered one of the best things of having my space here is that I get inspiration from my friends as well as support and compassion. Thanks for putting up with my whiney butt.
Let's see -- it's Thursday so I have the house to myself tonight. What to do, what to do?? Please nobody get any bright ideas about me doing something that involves going outside into the freezing cold. I would freeze into an icycle and no one would ever hear from me again.
On that note - I must get back to work. Take care!
