Well everyone - I'm headed off to start my weekend.  Eric will be at the house soon and the weather is 76 degrees out and beautiful and sunny.  Great start to a weekend.

I just wanted to stop in and wish all my buddies a great weekend!

    Wonderful Thursday Weather

I had a great day off yesterday.  It was in the 60's (as is today) and sunny.  Ahhhh freedom!

Charlie and I started off with a trip to the mall to pick him up some new T-shirts and shorts..and socks and more t-shirts and he wanted sneakers.  Anyway, we thought the mall opened at 9:00 a.m. and got there at 8:30, thinking the achor stores opened earlier.  Well, nothing was open but some stores in the food court.  Why 10:00 a.m.?  My job starts at 7:30 so why can't the stores at the mall open earlier.  10:00?  Stupid mall.  So we walked the mall for a little while.  Charlie kept saying "let's come back Saturday - I don't want to get caught "mall walking" (which is understandable since he's 16 and he was the only kid at the mall).  But we honestly did walk the mall at least 4 times.

I went to see Nikki and got to see Eric also.  Poor little sick baby with a cold.  Then I  went to get a few groceries and enjoyed the warm afternoon.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be in the low 70's.  It feels so good to ditch my coat and ride with the car windows down.  Sunshine and fresh air!

We sure will have fun this weekend.  Kevin and I are babysitting for Eric for the whole weekend so Nikki can get some rest and get over her cold, and she and Daniel can spend some time together and go job hunting (hint - hint Nik and Daniel).....

We have alot of errands to run and taking Eric along will be fun.  There is a garage sale we want to go to, Kevin has to drop off some literature on a job project he is helping a friend with, we want to stop at the bowling alley to see Charlie bowl in his league and of course we will need some lunch.  Yep, little Eric will sleep through the night for Grandma and Grandpa by the time we are done.

Ok - It's about time to head home and I want to get a few more games of Cranky Crab in.  I'm doing very well at it.  My name will be up there with the list of high scorers soon.

    Till later!

    Hey - It's Tuesday

The weather has been in the 50's for the last day or so and we are now heading towards the 60's -- Whoopie!

I did some Spring Cleaning on Saturday.  Living room, dining room baseboards floors (which entailed moving furniture and mopping, etc.  Not very exciting for a blog huh?  Not like my friend Skip, whose life is full of action or Cindi's who is also full of action.  I'm envious of those people with lives full of action.  I noticed that Skip picked on me about not updating, but not Cindi...hey no fair, just cause she has an exciting job!

But with Spring starting to develop, I can feel myself stirring to life again.  I am anxious to get outside and rake and plant and breathe fresh air.  Open the windows to air the house out.

I'm seriously considering taking tomorrow off.  It will be a nice day to spend some time outside, go see my grandbaby who has a cold and my daughter who has one also.  Maybe do a little of that raking I've been talking about.  Ok - you all talked me  into it.  I'm going to write my name on the days off calendar for tomorrow and these guys will have to deal with it.  If they can go to Vegas and Florida and all, I can take a day to myself.  Everyone needs a day to themselves to do what they want.  Ok - with decision made, I'm off to visit.  I have to look in on Beach Mama.  Also, I have to head to the store as I just scraped the bottom of the Cheeze Whiz jar.

    Take care!

    Memories and a Joke

Jaime sent me a few pictures he took with his phone camera of him at work.  Actually they were having a going away party for a co-worker and were making sushi and some other things.  Looks like they were having great fun.  I'm so glad that he has found a job at a great place doing something he loves.  I think every mom wishes that for her children.  I'm so proud of him for wanting to be the best at what he chooses to do.  I do miss him though and wish he could have found something closer to home.  Doesn't every mother wish that also?  That her children would stay close by.  Life goes on.

I was just thinking this morning of how my mornings are no longer rushed and hectic.  Used to be complete chaos in the morning.  All 6 of us had to be out the door early.  One wanted breakfast, one hated breakfast, one wanted to eat at the school and the other wanted it as he went out the door.  Everyone needed a morning shower and I had it timed.  Of course one wouldn't get out of bed and would mess up the timing.  Sometimes one would stay in the shower too long.  My mornings began at 4:30 and didn't stop till I sat at my desk.  Do I miss those mornings?  Yep, sometimes.

I'll be 50 years old in a few weeks.  Whew, how time does fly, and wow how things change in just the blink of an eye. What better reason to start living in the moment and for today.  But I'm still glad Friday is finally here.

Here's a cute joke for you all -- I'm gonna do some visiting.  But I will be checkin in alot this weekend to check on Beach Mama and see if the little one is coming early.  Take care everyone!

    The Smart Old Poodle

A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in
    Africa
, taking her faithful aged poodle named Cuddles, along for the company.

One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, Cuddles discovers that she's lost. Wandering about, she notices a leopard heading rapidly in her direction with the intention of having lunch.

The old poodle thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep shit now!"  Noticing some bones on the ground close by, she immediately settles down to chew on the bones with her back to the approaching cat.

Just as the leopard is about to leap, the old poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?"

Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees.  "Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That old poodle nearly had me!"

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard.

So off he goes, but the old poodle sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something
must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.

The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!"

Now, the old poodle sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?"  But instead of running, the dog sits down with her back to her attackers, pretending she hasn't seen
    them yet.

And just when they get close enough to hear, the old poodle says: "Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!"

    Moral of this story..
Don't mess with old farts!  Bullshit and brilliance only come with age and experience!

    Food and Stuff

Ahhh Wednesday - I didn't think it would ever get here.  Actually I am waiting for Friday, but I'll take Wednesday as it's my payday.  Lunch out....yipeee.  A Quizno's Beef Dip sounds good, or maybe Popeye's Chicken and Cole Slaw.  And yes, I know it's only 8:30 a.m., but I just finished a hard roll, so it is ok to nibble on Rasinets.  How weird, I'm thinking about food this morning like crazy.  I feel another phase coming on - the Cheeze Whiz and crackers phase is fading away.  Wonder what it will be -- I've been thinking of Onion Dip and Chips lately.

This week hasn't been too bad so far.  Work is busy enough to make the time go by.  My boss John is leaving for Florida for 3 weeks today so he is cleaning off his desk and putting everything on mine.  *sigh .... I'm eyeing my retangular file basket (if you know what I mean) for after he leaves.  Most of it is junk.  (I just had to look to make sure he isn't reading over my shoulder)   For all of you who don't know - I have the best job with the neatest people.

Everyone at home is fine.  We are going to Nikki and Daniels for dinner on Saturday.  I do believe we put Nichole in a panic.  We will be her first company for dinner.  Yep, I'll let her do the cooking......what a difference that will be.  Talk about feeling strange.  Well I'll probably sneak in the kitchen for a peek or two.

Jaime Im'd me yesterday saying he had just had a good dose of reality and wants to come home for a few days.  He was only kidding, but I had to laugh. He wants to buy an ipod and some shoes, but he's broke.  Living in Manhatten is expensive....um, ya think?  It was good to chat with him for awhile, and Nikki IM'd in so I was trying to keep up with them both at the same time.  Finally it was 4:00 so I hooked the both of them up together to talk about living life away from home and I went home!  Whew...

Well, I've babbled on enough this morning.  I need to get out and do some visiting, so hopefully you will all have a good rest of the week.

    Sping and Eggs

St. Patrick's Day has passed so I'll get rid of the green theme.  I know it's the first day of spring and that's great (we are making progress), but I'm going to go straight for a beach theme.  No messing around, I'm ready.

Nichole, Daniel and Eric came up for a Corn Beef and Cabbage dinner on Saturday.  We didn't do much after that - it was pretty cold so we watched some t.v., visited with my nephew Kurt and hit the sack early.

Sunday was grocery shopping and Kevin took Charlie up to his sisters to get some weights she was giving him.

Today, the sun is shining and the day looks beautiful - that is till you step outside into the 19 degree weather.   Brrrrrr

Here's something I thought was pretty neat.  Has anyone ever tried it?  I know it's a myth, but I guess it's like the groundhog ..... kinda traditional.

Work is busy - I hope you all had a great weekend and will have a warm week.  Till later!

    The Equinox and the Egg

Can you really balance an egg on end on the first official day of spring? Yes — but so what?

Ah, spring! The trees are blooming, the birds are chirping, the eggs are standing on end....

Springtime has always prompted weird rituals in humans, but the strangest of them all has got to be the annual “Standing of the Eggs.” As the legend goes, an egg can be balanced on end only on the first day of spring, what astronomers call the "vernal equinox." If you try it any other day of the year, it won’t work.

So why does an egg stand up, anyway?

Take a close look at the bottom of any egg. It probably has little bumps on it called concretions, irregularities in the shell created when it forms inside the chicken. These can act like tiny stubby legs, supporting the egg on a flat surface and keeping it from rolling over.

Hint: The narrow end is usually a bit smoother, making it harder to balance an egg on this "tip." But it can be done!

    Alone All Day

Gee, where is everyone today?  Spaces has been lonley lately, especially today.

I found this while just plodding around the web.  Hope everyone is enjoying their day. I'm heading home for the evening.  Take care!

A wealthy man took his son to the country to teach the boy about poor people. They spent several days and nights on the farm of a poor family.

When they returned home, the father asked his son, “What do you think now that you’ve seen how poor people live?”

The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, but they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden, but they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, but they have friends to protect them.”

    The boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added, “Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are.”

    Snowy Hump Day

I finally slept through the night till the alarm clock rang, rather than up at 3:30 or 4:00.  Guess I must have needed the rest.  Although it was not fun looking out the kitchen window this morning to see that it was snowing like crazy.  Stupid Snow.  I've been at work over two hours now and it's still snowing.  Stupid Stupid Snow.

Our driver, Paul, brought in 4 boxes of books (90% hardcover) that he is bringing to a used bookstore.  I guess they are giving him $1.00 per book in store credit.  I went and took a look and it was like being a kid in a penny candy store (almost).  I found 10 books of my favorite authors that I hadn't read yet.  They are hardcover and they look brand new, and will go with my collection.  Not bad for $1.00 a book.  Yippee!  I love finding bargains.

Nichole is doing a great job of making dinner for herself and Daniel.  She sounds like she is feeling better from her cold.  Charlie just stopped by here at work and he is not wearing a coat.  He'll be the next one with a cold.

Before I say goodbye and try to keep my promise of yesterday to visit everyone, I want to say Congratulations to my friend Theresa in getting her new job.  I am so happy at this new opportunity for her!

    Busy Tuesday

It's a busy Tuesday, invoicing and paying all the bills at work.  But I'm almost done and the day went quickly today.

We had huge thunderstorms last evening, throughout the night and into this morning.  I am used to the storms lasting about 15 to 20 minutes of thunder (sometimes even shorter periods).  Last night it went on forever and the thunder woke me up a few times.  Rattled my windows this morning. The sun is out now but it's chilly.  We reached our high at about 6:00 a.m. (55 degrees) and now it has dropped into the 40's.  Such weird weather this year.

Scot has made chili for lunch.  Instead of using beans, he used mushrooms.  I told him that wasn't chili but he insists it is called "sociable chili" -- it has no beans so you are free to socialize for hours after you eat it.   Dweeb Scot....

I didn't get a chance to do much visiting today - so sorry, but I will get to you all tomorrow.
Meanwhile here's a little smile for ya all:

You've got to love this little girl. (What a woman she'll make!)

A teacher asked her class, "What do you want out of life?"

A little girl in the back row raised her hand and said, "All I want out
of life is four little animals, just like my Mother always says.

The teacher asked, "Really and what four little animals would that be?

The little girl said, "A mink on my back, a jaguar in the garage, a
tiger in the bed and a jackass to pay for it all."

    Checking in..

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  Mine was petty much the same as last weekend although it was warmer this weekend.

I'm tired today - must be the cloudy, pouring rain, weather making me tired, because I sure as heck didn't do anything this weekend that would have made me tired.  Stupid tired making weather.  Although, it does bring flowers and green, green grass.

Theresa, tomorrow is a full moon.  Pretty cool as it signals the end of winter.  It has been known to snow here in April - I'm hoping we've seen the last of it.  It's supposed to get back into the 30's tomorrow.

    March 14, 6:35 p.m. - The Full Worm Moon.

In this month the ground softens and the earthworm casts reappear, inviting the return of the robins.  The more northern tribes knew this as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signals the end of winter, or the Full Crust Moon because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night.  The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation. In addition, a very minor penumbral lunar eclipse will take place on this night; the Moon will pass through the Earth’s outer and cause a slight tarnishing or smudginess to appear on its lower rim.  The darkest phase of this eclipse comes at 6:48 p.m. EST.  For about 40 minutes before and after this time, the subtle penumbral shading may be detected with binoculars and even the naked eye.

Nikki and Daniel are doing great.  Their apartment is coming along nice.  Eric is getting bigger and bigger every time I see him.  I can hardly believe how much he's changed in just the week I didn't see him.  He is always smiling and kicking his legs and I love the grin when you catch his eye and say hello.  My heart melts.

I'll be dealing with paying bills after work and cooking dinner and doing a little laundry.  Not much else new other than that.  You all take care!

    Quiet Day Today

Work has been pretty slow today and I find myself finished and waiting to go home.  I did do some visiting in between working.  The Blog world is pretty slow today, actually it's slowed down alot lately.

Nichole called me a little while ago.  She is "attached" to the world again.  Her phone is installed, her internet and her cable turned on.  She's good to go. Hopefully she will be updating her blog and catching up with all of you who visit her as well as me.

I can hardly wait till tomorrow.  Not only is it Friday, but it is supposed to be nice and sunny and warm - well 60 is warm for here.  60 is good - it's warm enough to go without my coat yet I don't sweat...errr I mean perspire.  I'm so sick of that raggy coat following me every time I go outside.  Yep I'll wake up with a smile tomorrow a.m.   I think I'll even stop and get a McGriddle sandwich at Mickey D's.  Breakfast sandwiches are the only Mickey D things I eat besides the fries.  And I can't have a McGriddle sandwich with fries because they don't serve fries in the morning, just hash browns.  Needless to say it's been awhile since I've had the fries.  Yep, rambling away here.......

Guess I will head home.  It really is gloomy and raining so it will be one of those cozy evenings - oops - forgot to take something out for dinner --  I'll finish up my book and watch some tv and talk to Nic on the phone for awhile.  So - till tomorrow and you hear me yellling  -  THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!!!!

    Showing My Age

Well I spent most of today visiting as many people as I could get to between my work, and adding a list of who's who in my family (at least my immediate family), so that if I get any new visitors they will know who on earth I'm talking about.

Now it's time to go home, but I wanted to say hello really quick.  I was surfing around today looking for something to blog about.  Does anybody remember:

Geez - am I boring or what?

I don't know if I ever mentioned how much I love to look at Home Interior designs.  I'm always on the lookout for great photos.  Someday when I retire and settle down in a quaint little beach town, I will pull out my photographs and have some really fabulous ideas.  Anyway - when you see the pictures of certain living rooms, bedrooms or even patios, etc., you'll know I have a new picture for my collection.  I keep thinking, someday -- yep someday.

I just finished talking with Jaime (via Instant Message).  He has today off and is cleaning his apartment.  He probably won't be able to make it home till May because he doesn't have two days off in a row till then.  I sure do miss him though, so maybe Kev and I can plan on going down for a day, maybe taking the train or something.  If we leave early we can spend the day with him and then leave early the next morning after he goes to work.  Hmm ... now that sounds like a plan doesn't it.  I bet we can find a few things to do in Manhatten.

I went to the Mall yesterday to pick up some Paul Mitchell Shampoo - there's only one salon that has it in the area - and I decided to walk around and see what's new for spring.  *sigh - sure do wish I had some money.  BUT, I resisted buying some Yankee Candles (I am ordering some Partylite ones) and I gave myself a headache spraying all the new scents at Bath and Bodyworks all over myself.  Found nothing new I like so I will stick with the old scent (lavender vanilla).

It's a beautiful day today - and will be even better tomorrow.  The sun is shining and all I can think about is how much I want to plant flowers.  Otherwise, not much is new either at work or home.  Guess I'll go visit.  Take care till later.

    Just saying hello

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  Mine was pretty good.

Friday we went to Johnny C's for dinner.  They must have gotten a new cook, because nothing tasted the same as it usually does.  The veal was pounded down so flat all you could taste was the breading and there was hardly any of the garlic, lemon juice on it so it really tasted like dry cardboard.  Kevin's haddock was very dry, rather that nice and moist like it usually is.  We were disappointed, but figured maybe if we wait a few months to go again it will have gotten better.  Actually it has to because if others were as dissatisfied as we were, their business will drop off and they'll eventually figure out why.  Next Friday we will go to 99 Diner.  Kevin hasn't been there yet.  I've been for lunch and they were very good, so we'll see how dinner is.

Nikki's apartment is very nice.  It's a Duplex and a good sized one.  They have a nice sliding glass door with a pretty large yard that will be nice this summer.  Now that I was there and took a look I know some of the things she needs and the sizes, such as curtains, and such.  I meant to take a few pictures of the apartment for her to post on her blog Thursday, but I forgot.

All in all it was a nice weekend.  Charlie bowled a 570 triple for his bowling tournament which made him mad.  He is used to bowling over a 600 triple.  They got home at noontime and we just hung out at home, ate dinner and called it a weekend.

The weather is getting nicer.  It's quite cold out but the sun is shining and it's supposed to make it up to 36 degrees.  I'm betting maybe 40.  Friday is supposed to be 50 and Saturday 56.  I sure do hope it lasts right through summer now.

Well - I'm off to so some visiting, and finish up my work since I'm leaving early today.  Take care and I hope your Monday is good.

    Silly Games and Weekend Plans

Happy Friday everyone.  Whew!  So glad I made it.  For some reason this week just dragged on.  Maybe because I am anxious for Saturday so I can go check out Nikki's new apartment and see my sweetie grandson Eric.

Nichole told me this morning that Eric crawled this morning.  He's been scooting a little lately, but this morning, actually got on his knees and figured it out.  Watch out world...Here comes Eric!

I was online playing a silly game this morning.  Actually, it's so simple that it's kind of addicting.  I wanted to get my name up there with the high scorers.  I might, but once they get going, it won't stay for long.  Here's the link, give it a try.    Cranky Crabs (yes, I said Cranky Crabs).  Maybe I will see your name up there.

So what are everyone's plans for this weekend.  Besides going to Nikki's house, we will be stopping to see a friends new apartment (they have been there a few months, we just haven't made it over that way).  Then on Sunday I have my grocery shopping while Kevin is going with Charlie to watch him bowl in a tounament in Albany.  Other than that, it's just managing to stay out of the cold.  And it sure is cold today.

I also wanted to shout out at Skip - CONGRAULATIONS SKIP ON GETTING YOUR JOB.  And to Cindi - CONGRATULATIONS AND YES YOU'LL LIKE YOUR NEW JOB!  If you'd like to go say congratulations to them, you can find their links off to the right along with my other Spaces Buddies.

Well I've replenished the Crackers and bought a new jar of Cheeze Whiz so I'm content here at work.  It is pretty slow today, so I'm off to do some visiting and play Cranky Crabs.  LMAO...such a silly game.

Have a FABULOUS weekend everyone!  Till later!

    Food Phases and Candles

Well, it's Thursday morning and back to normal now that the guys are back from their Las Vegas party business trip.  Business as usual…

I finished up my work until the postman gets here and to my dismay I realized I had eaten all my crackers and I still have Cheeze Whiz left.  Oh well, a trip to the grocery store during lunch will fix that.  I will be glad when I get out of my Cheese Whiz and cracker stage.  This much salt and cheese cannot be good for me.  I remember the time I was on a Brach's Butterscotch Candy phase.  I was so afraid of going into a sugar coma before that phase ended.  Does everyone go through food phases like I do?  Or am I just the weird one?  There has been Cheese Doodles, M&M's, Chips and Onion Dip, um….jello.  What could possibly be next?

We were due to get a huge snowstorm today, but it has been downgraded to just a dusting.  I am so relieved.  There is still snow on the ground from last time.  My car needs a good washing because of all the salt and such. There is a carwash by the grocery store, so I will stop there and hope the car doesn't freeze up from the cold on my way back to work..

I emailed my Partylite candle consultant this morning as I have discovered I am almost out of candles.  I love candles, but will only use the Colonial Candle brand that Partylite sells as I am spoiled by the way they burn.  I was a consultant for a few years and did quite well at it.  I stopped because it took up so much of my time.  Had to choose between a regular paycheck or the sales commission paycheck.  I took the one with the health insurance and sure paycheck.  But I'm thinking that maybe I'll go back to selling someday.  It's a fun and easy way to earn money and it's something I can do from home.

Ok - I'm off to do the bank deposit, and will do some visiting when I get back.  Maybe I can get all the way though my list today.  I need to get going because I have to stop licking all the cheese whiz off this plastic knife.  It is so addicting….

    Moving Day!

Well, Nikki is on her way to her new apartment - all packed and and as excited as can be.  I'm excited for her - sad as hell for me.  I will miss her.

    I read my horoscope today:

    Aries - March 20 - April 18
It is important for you to get outside today and feel the wind blowing, dear Aries. Reconnect with nature and be aware of the four elements - especially the air. Take deep breaths and fill your lungs up with this energizing life force. Imagine yourself on a mountaintop looking out over a vast ocean below. Expand your awareness so that nothing escapes your attention. Keep your head clear of trite clutter and be open to new adventures.
