31 juillet Early morningGood morning everyone - I thought I would say hello over another early cup of coffee. It's 4:45 and still another half hour before the paper gets here. I was up at four, finished the book I was reading and am on my second cup of coffee. Considering the fact that I fell asleep on the couch at 8:00 it's no wonder I'm up so early.
I never did get my new curtains hung last night. We did grill the steaks though and they were fabulous. Looks like Daniel is a master on the grill. So after that full belly of mine, it's no wonder I lost any idea of work. Oh well, tonight's another night.
Yes, the days have been kind of hectic since the kids have arrived. That's great though, as my summer just wasn't the same without them. Now it seems more like summer. Swimming with Eric and having family around is more the way I like things. I could use some central air though -- it's pretty hot this summer when it's not raining. Today is slated to be another hot one.
It's kind of hard lately to find much to tell you all about. I don't want to bore you all to death with the same thing all the time. But mostly it has been work as usual and working on the house (which is coming along nicely) and swimming and spending time with family outside. We are getting alot of use out of the yard and pool. I've been helping Nik get settled in NY once again. I know that she is unhappy having to leave Florida again, although she is adjusting and does say she and Daniel feel more relaxed here. But like me she is not looking forward to the winter. She has inherited her mom's love for summer and the beach.
With the work on the house moving along I have been thinking more about our relocating. It is very much a reality, and I am getting quite nervous. I mean - how does anyone go about moving a life? Especially when they want to go somewhere that is a big distance from this life? I have an idea of where we want to go, but now what? Oh well - I guess I'll just figure it out as we go along.
On that note I guess I'll quit rambling and jump in the shower before the paper arrives. I love these quiet early mornings as I can get so much done without distraction. Maybe I'll jump in the pool after work and take a nap on the float. That will refresh me and maybe I won't fall asleep early tonight and can hang my darned curtains. I'm anxious to see how they look. And I also know that when I am up this early, I have a tendency to get sleepy early. Especially in this heat. It will be close to 90 today, I can feel the humidity already. Take care all - and have a wonderful day! 30 juillet Checkin In..So how was everyone's weekend? Mine actually turned out ok - despite the fact that the weatherman predicted rain all weekend. We never did see it after Saturday morning and spent the whole weekend outside, in the pool, visiting with friends. It was nice. I did hardly any chores -- cooking, shopping and maybe a little laundry. We worked so hard on the upstairs it was nice to take a break. Eric got in more pool time -- Nik and I went out and picked up a little 3-ring wading pool for him for when no one could be in the big pool with him (which isn't often because it was so hot).
Here it is Monday and back to the grindstone. Besides work, Kevin needs to weed wack and I have curtains to hang this evening. BUT - we are having steak and can cook that on the grill after a quick swim later.
Daniel began his job last Monday and is putting in good hours. Nikki is working on Health Insurance for the three of them and I'll take her out one night this week to put in applications for work. We figured she can work evenings and I can watch Eric until she can find a good daycare for him. Nikki had him evaluated in Florida because she was worried about him not saying words or vocalizing what he wanted. The doctor wasn't too worried but did tell her it would be good to have the therapy. So - insurance is needed and they have special daycare for him.
This coming Sunday, my sister will be be at the house and my nephew Kurt is bringing the kids over so we can all spend time. My sister still hasn't seen the baby Jake yet and it's been quite awhile since she has seen the girls. I guess that's the hard part of living so far away. Visits are far and few. I know how I felt with Nikki, Eric and Daniel so far away.
Friday night the Godfather movie was on so I stayed up and watched that. At 1:00 a.m. they were showing Godfather II and at 11:00 a.m. they were doing Godfather III. So I taped them and last evening watched Godfather II. I've never watched them one after another before and I don't think I saw all of Godfather III. Kevin has the DVD set that Little Kev bought him for Christmas, but he hasn't opened it yet.
Well folks other than working, doing the house, and spending time with the kids - there really isn't much else going on. It's a typical enjoyable summer and we are getting alot done on the house as well. Guess since there is not much else to ramble on about - I'll go see what all of you are up to! Take care!
24 juillet Long Time No BlogI see that MSN is changing things again. I came on and for the life of me could not find a way to "Add" so I could update. Today I came in and fooled around some more and hit "Exit Edit" -- mind you now, I wasn't in the edit mode as there was no way to add anything. Then a nice little link came up and said "Edit this Page". Well, finally.
I'm sorry I haven't been on lately to update, but I'm sure you all know how sometimes life just takes over and so many things happen at once.
If you all glanced at the Photo's you will know that Nik, Daniel and Eric have come home to stay. It's really her story to tell, but pretty much the same thing happened as last time. The only reason they lasted as long as they did this time was because they had their own place. We received a distress call Monday and by Thursday they had arrived here, lock, stock and barrel. In the time since then, it's been a whirlwind of activity. Let's just suffice to say on my part that there is a woman in Florida that I would like to hang out a skyscraper by her feet. Nasty, nasty person. Ok - let's veer off that subject. I don't like to have bad feelings for people and I don't like the bad vibes thinking about her gives me. On the other side of the coin - her loss is my gain. I love having the house alive and full of activitity once again.
Let's see - what else. We are in process of transferring all of our work on the house to the upstairs section - paint, repairs, carpet cleaning, etc. It would be too hard to do it after Nik, Daniel and baby Eric moved into the rooms. At least the bedrooms should be done by Thursday and hopefully we can finish the rest of the upstairs by the weekend. Then they can settle in and pitch in with the rest of the house repairs/fix-ups.
Again - I'm sorry I haven't been here alot. Once or twice I sat down to update but so much is going on I barely got a sentence or two before I had to stop. I'm going to go around and do some visiting. I can hardly believe it is after 3:00 already. Whew! Time sure does fly lately!
BTW -- I just wanted to make sure you all knew I haven't forgotten the wedding pictures. I am unable to locate my wedding album. I know I have it somewhere but with all the cleaning out and sorting things I haven't come across it yet. But I will and will make sure you all get a good laugh.
OH- Michelle - I haven't forgotten about Show and Tell Saturday. Keep checking in on Saturdays!
Bear with me friends....Life is keeping me hopping at present!
Till later! 17 juillet Whew - what a weekI'm sorry I haven't had a chance to update. It is a busy week and lots of things going on, so if I do try to update it will take me more than just a few quick minutes. I've tons of work today as Monday's mail is always heavy as it contains both Saturday and Monday. This week was more than ususal. It's nice that business is going well, it keeps me in paycheck (Kevin too for that matter), but I wish it were spread out abit more.
Quick update - Yesterday was mine and Kev's 19th Anniversary. I wanted to scan a wedding pic or two here to show you all how absolutely gorgeous we looked 19 years ago. First one who laughs at my hair is gonna get it. Whatever it is...yeah what can I do right? LOL! But my hair is nothing compared to Kevins.....
So check back in and I will do my best to get the pics scanned tomorrow! 13 juillet Everyday thingsHi everyone - I hope you enjoy the pictures of us all in the pool last Sunday. It was a fun day. Kurt is my newphew (my sister Vicc's son) and Kennedy, Morgan and Jake are his little ones. The other little one (with no hair) is McKenna who is Michelles little girl. Michelle is the blonde and Karen with the dark hair Kurt's wife. My niece in law??? Is that right? I am lucky enough that they only live 3 blocks away and I see them often. My sister however lives almost 3 hours away so I take as many pictures as I can and send them to her. We are planning a get together on August 5 so that should be fun.
Nothing much else is new. I've been busy at work, and there are some emails that needed answering as well as bills to be paid, etc., etc. Life just goes on.
Nik sent me some pictures of Eric and Daniel in the swimming pool and I'll share two of my favorites so you can see how big he has gotten. Oh I miss them so much. They will be arriving for a week August 18 -- did I tell everyone that already?
Come on Eric - Jump in to Daddy... Um - No Thanks - I think I'll lower myself gently ... Isn't he such a cutie? He loves floating around on his daddy's back. They later went to watch fireworks, and though he was tired he was excited anyway. Hmmm - I forgot to ask Nik, but I bet he sure slept soundly that night. I'm hoping Kevin and I get to go out to dinner again tonight. Because the sun keeps goin in and out, and thunderstorms are predicted, I believe we will pick somewhere indoors this time. Although I do prefer eating outside when I can. Well everyone -- there really isn't much to tell at this point. I'm hoping to get back over the weekend to share a quick cup of coffee with you all. Meantime all of you enjoy the weekend - I'm planning to. Till later! 7 juillet Weekend thingsSo how is everyone? I hope you all had a nice week. Not much is new here. Let's see....
It rained all day on the 4th of July and Kevin spent the day putting on brake pads and rotors for my car. Unfortunately he picked the worst time, because of the rain, and because the car part place gave him the wrong rotors. Of course they were closed on the 4th. I made sausage and peppers and some salads, but pretty much it was a day like any other except for rainy and gloomy. Oh well there is always next year.
Then - Kev and I decided to go out to dinner last night. We went to a little place called Clinton's Ditch which has a nice outside dining area. It was nice out and we enjoyed it alot. Until...we had a thunderstorm right in the middle of our dinner...LOL! And darn - they have the best Chicken Marsala. We had it boxed up and headed home in the thunder and lightning. We will definately go back though. The food was good and the atmosphere relaxing. It was quite a young crowd -- young for me anyway. I'd say about mid twenties. I had to smile a few times at some of the conversation I heard around he other tables. Gosh was I that young? I actually had to put my head in my hand and smile a few times at some of the things I heard. Oh to be that young again. There was a kareoke guy setting up outside, despite the obvious storm coming in. But they knew what they were doing as they lifted a big heavy plastic and metal thing over the equipment when they were done. After the storm the night turned out pretty nice. Another young guy ran around early on and gave everyone chair cushions for our metal chairs. No - he wasn't an employee, just a regular customer who thought everyone's butt needed to be comfortable. I bet the management wasn't happy they had to run all over in the rain and gather them up again. Oops...
We are in for more thunderstorms again today. Kevin will do the lawn this morning, but the stairs will have to wait for another weekend. I, on the other hand, still want to do the pantry. While we are out later, we are headed around to look for one of those solar fishes for the pool. It seems never to warm up lately because of the cool weather. So when it is hot out, and a nice dip in the pool is just the thing, it's never really had time to warm up much. We've only been in once (although I've sat on the ladder with my feet in).
So, I guess that's about it from my end. Charlie has to work today, so I have to get him up soon. If I jump in the shower now, I can beat the fight for the bathroom and maybe head over to vacuum my car while Kev is waking up and getting his act together.
Have a great weekend everyone! 3 juillet Morning Coffee
It sure has been a long time since I couldn't sleep and was up this early. It's 4:13 but I was actually awake at 3:00. After numerous attempts to get back to sleep (despite the firecrackers going off in every direction in the distance) I decided to start the coffee. What the heck. It's been a long time since I have chatted with you all this early.
So let's see how are things. I guess I never have really caught you up about Kevin being home and how all that is going. The trip to Florida happened so quickly, meeting Melissa and seeing Nik, Daniel and Eric, etc.
Remember when I said that Kevin's boss had kept a place for him to return to when he was out? Well I guess he decided that he didn't need Kevin after all, so that fell through. It took forever for the boss to return Kevin's calls in the first place so we were kind of expecting that when he did call. He said that as soon as business picked up, he would give Kevin a call. Anyway - Kevin did get a job where I work, making only half of what he was making, but better than nothing at all.
Alot of things have changed, but I guess I can put it all in a nutshell when I tell you that Kevin is having a hard time - which in the long run, puts alot of problems in my direction. He is a very angry person right now - at himself. His anger and negativity have driven away most of his friends which angers him even more. So things are a bit rocky right now, and I am nearing my wits end, so some prayers aimed in my direction would be very welcome.
I had to take Sir Charles to the doctor yesterday morning. He hurt his leg while playing football Sunday. I knew it was a pulled muscle and knew Advil and heat and ice would help, but stubborn little thing he is insisted that wasn't it. So - after the doctor's appointment he came out of the Dr's office with a bag of Advil Liquid capsule samples and orders to ice it. LMAO at his expression. Did I mention that because he is 18 now he had to redo his office paperwork and decide whether or not he wanted to sign the papers to give me access to his records if I needed them. He made a big show of thinking about it and teased me for abit, but signed his name. LOL! Kids - gotta love em. So - seems Dr. Mom was right as usual. The kids are always amazed that I know what's wrong with them.
I'm thinking this weekend of tackling the pantry. We have a nice walk in pantry that I love. I'd like to do that before we put in the new floor. I need to empty it, take out the shelves, paint it and instead of painting the shelves would like to stain the natural wood and the cabinet door inside it. Kevin needs to replace the back steps so maybe he can work on that this weekend. So - off to the wood store on Friday or maybe Saturday morning.
Tomorrow is the 4th of July and we have off. It stinks that it fell right in the middle of the week so we were cheated out of a 3 day weekend, but I guess next year it must be on a Thursday, so maybe we can get a 4 day weekend to make up for this year. I really doesn't feel like a holiday to me this year.
Well, I've rambled on long enough so I guess I'll say bye for now and check to see if the paper is here yet. Thanks for sharing my morning coffee with me...it sure tasted good. Whoops there go the firecrackers again. Geez someone is sure partying out there tonight. Take care all! |
